Insights From Our Experts
In honor of Women’s History Month, we celebrate the Ladies of Liger by pulling inspiration from their favorite quotes and sayings.
- Dana Brown, Liger Tamer – Project Manager
“Well-behaved women seldom make history.”
– Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
To me it means that historically women have to go “against the grain” to prove our worth and ability to succeed in any area we choose.
- April Holtzclaw, Official Bean Counter – Controller
“The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese.”
That’s my favorite. It’s a good defense for my consistent tardiness.
- Jackie Chism, Lead Fisherwoman – Writer
“Do what’s necessary, then do what’s possible; suddenly you’re doing the impossible.”
– Francis of Assisi.
I tend to get overwhelmed by problems that look huge on the surface, which I think is common for people when we all look at some of the big problems in our communities. So, when I feel that way, I just remember this quote, and then think about doing what I have to do in the moment and then what’s possible. It helps me focus on “being the change” in my realm of influence, which can lead to bigger things, rather than feeling like I have to figure out how to solve some huge issue on my own.
- Jazalyn Gay, Social Media Guru – Content Coordinator
I love the saying “Choose to Keep Going; ” with the symbol of a semicolon.
This has pushed me through when I didn’t think I could go any longer. The semicolon is a symbol of continuing forward. When someone is writing, they can use a semicolon as a choice to continue instead of ending a sentence. So as the author of your life, you should always choose to keep going. Never give up. Little throwback, I used to write this on my hand in college to remind me to keep going when times were tough.
- Courtney Psinas, Wizard of Opportunity – Sales Executive
“You are one decision away from a completely different life.”
- Nancy Murray, Podcast Coordinator, Assistant to the Regional Manager
“Happiness is a choice, not a condition. I choose to be happy.”
- Kirsten Bailey, Content Choreographer – Content Coordinator
“Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.”
– Bethany Hamilton
To me this is a great reminder that just because something scares you, doesn’t mean you’re not capable of doing it.
- Abbie Repsher, Sniper – Logistics Assistant
“Be the energy you want to attract.”
I think this is pretty self explanatory.
- Debbie Vignone, Logistical Liger – Project Coordinator
“Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.”
Be prepared.
- Vanessa Martinez, Pedro Sanchez Campaign Manager – Marketing Manager
“Memento mori.”
For me this is a reminder of the blessing that we get to choose how we live everyday. When I think of this, I am reminded that life is not always so serious and most of the time when I worry I really have nothing to prove and nothing to lose when I try my best.
